Anxiety, the Autonomic Nervous System, and Finding Harmony Through Modalities

Blog

In the fast-paced rhythm of contemporary life, demands and stressors seem endless. Thus, our Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) often finds itself caught in a perpetual state of anxiety. Striking a harmonious balance within the ANS is essential for overall well-being. Luckily, various therapeutic modalities can serve as valuable tools in achieving this delicate equilibrium.

The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and Anxiety

The Autonomic Nervous System is a complex network responsible for regulating involuntary bodily functions, including heart rate, digestion, and respiratory rate. It is divided into two branches: the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), which triggers the "fight or flight" response, and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), responsible for the "rest and digest" state.

Anxiety often stems from an overactive Sympathetic Nervous System, leaving individuals in a perpetual state of heightened alertness. Finding ways to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System is crucial for mitigating anxiety and promoting a more balanced and relaxed state.

Finding Balance Through Modalities

At Bespoke Human Potential Coaching, we provide a wide range of resources to diminish your levels of anxiety, carry out a healthier life, and build a better version of yourself. Discover these methodologies and start living calmer and happier.

1. Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy induces a state of deep relaxation that allows the Parasympathetic Nervous System to take control. By deactivating the hyper-aroused state of the Sympathetic Nervous System, hypnotherapy can lower stress hormones, improve digestion, and enhance sleep quality.

2. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

At Bespoke Human Potential Coaching, we apply NLP to empower individuals to identify and reframe cognitive patterns that trigger stress responses. By consciously changing these thought patterns, you can engage your Parasympathetic Nervous System.

This process will promote relaxation, and it will also balance your emotional states.

3. Mental and Emotional Release ® (MER)

MER®  focuses on identifying and releasing pent-up emotions contributing to a hyperactive Sympathetic Nervous System. By processing these emotional blockages, the Autonomic Nervous System functions more harmoniously.

Mental and Emotional Release® enables the Parasympathetic Nervous System to carry out its restorative processes.

4. Life Coaching

Life coaching assists in goal-setting, stress management, and the development of coping mechanisms.

By incorporating these strategies into daily life, individuals encourage regular engagement of the Parasympathetic Nervous System. This strategy teaches the Autonomic Nervous System to respond more adaptively to stressors.

5. Perennial Wisdom

Incorporating age-old techniques such as meditation and mindfulness, perennial wisdom offers a holistic approach to activating the Parasympathetic Nervous System. These practices foster an inner calm and tranquility, providing a profound counterbalance to the chaos of modern life.

The L.G.E.T. Mindset™: Learning, Growing, Expanding, Transforming

The constant need to "do" and "achieve" can hinder the transition from "fight or flight" to "rest and digest." However, embracing therapeutic modalities aligns seamlessly with the L.G.E.T. Mindset™.

This mindset advocates for continuous Learning, Growing, Expanding, and Transforming. At Bespoke Human Potential Coaching, we apply this mindset to pave the way for individuals to become the best versions of themselves.

As we navigate the challenges of modern life, it's imperative to cultivate a flexible and adaptive Autonomic Nervous System. By incorporating these therapeutic modalities into our lives, we not only address anxiety but also create a balanced ANS, offering a tangible way to cope with and thrive amidst the chaos of the contemporary world.

Creating a healthier life, facing the constant anxiety, and building the best version of yourself can be totally challenging and overwhelming. The good news is that you do not have to do it on your own. Schedule a call, and let’s find your path together.
